and gives us the latest. >> reporter: police say he was an innocent bystander. he was standing in front of this house when he got caught in the middle of the crossfire. police say he was shot 5 times and they recovered 36 shell casings. they've determined there were 2 shooters after finding cases from 2 different calibers. this gray pontiac across the street was also hit twice - once in the windshield and door. police say the barrage of bullets were discharged just before 5 oclock in the eveniing. police say this shooting is connected to another weeks ago on chester street. >> tonight the coast guard is collided with a small boat injuring two peoplethe golden gate ferry had just left sausalito on it's way to pier one in san francisco when the accident happened kron 4's scott rates was on the ground and brings us the dramatic scene. been of this was our kron 4 pm in the racccoon stra its had just left sausalito luckily, nobody on the ferry was hurt but the two people on the smaller boat were hurt. a doctor and nurse went from the ferry boat onto the smaller boat. this woman just sat down

(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. actively searching the water for four people. including two children under the age of eight, believed to have abandoned their sailboat off pillar point drifting towards santa cruz. at around 4:30 this afternoon, the coast guard received a message saying that the boaters were having trouble with their communication system. at 5:30 the coast guard reports they lost all contact and sign of them. the sailboat has yet to be found. as of right now the coast guard is looking for 4 people.in t
us, the bodies of the three men were found in the home on ross station road, just outside sebastopol shortly after three this afternoon. authorities are saying the incident is *not a murder suicide. and at least one of the victims that died is connected to the home where the shooting happened. >> we are in the process of interviewing anybody who is involved with the three deceased subjects. this was not a random crime. i do not think that anybody in sonoma county are in danger. >> pam: one of the victim's brother men inside a bedroom. him for a couple hours. authorities say a triple murder is unusual. they say this is likely an isolated incident. there are three homes and a cabin on the property.that's located near the iron horse vineyard. the men were found inside the cabin. right now. there is no word of any suspect information. >> this is a map of this area. this is just east of iron horse vineyards. and a south of forest hill elementary school. >> pam: palo alto police are investigating an attempted kidnapping in one of that city's quiet neighborhoods. kron four's jeff bush show
us at peoplebehavingbadly@kron4.co m >> reporter: tuesday's shootings occurred in central santa cruz, a little more than a mile north of the beach. around 3:30 tuesday afternoon, two visited a home here at 822 north bran-ca-forty drive. this is where were both shot and killed by the suspect, jeremy goulet. after the shooting, goulet the scene. a short time later, as first responders tended to the fallen officers, goulet returned to the scene. he spotted here, behind 822 bran-ca-forty, on the other side of a fence. officers ordered goulet to submit, but he fled south down this alley. when he reached nearby doyle street, he was met by multiple police officers. gunfire erupted as the suspect and police exchanged dozens of shots. goulet was eventually killed here near 140 doyle street. clifford kron 4 news. >> we are learning much more about the two officers who loss their lives during the shootout in santa cruz. as kron four's terisa estacio reports, friends and colleagues describe both. as hard working and dedicated officers who will be truly missed by many. santa cruz police officer l
basketball practice before vanishing in 1984. one of therrien's former landlords tells us. he wore shoulder length, blond hair - similar to description of the last perso talking to collins before he disappeared. therrien died in 2008. from a heart attack. at the age of 51. that means he was 28. at the time kevin vanished. kron fours' terisa estacio talked with kevin collins mother about this newest information. i spoke with kevin's mother ann this morning about this newest lead in her son's disappearance back in 1984. i asked her if she had ever seen this man. dan therrien. and what investigators are now telling her about why after so many years they are re-opening her son's case.. ann collins tells kron four news that she recalls inspectors tracking down many leads after kevin vanished. but a few really stood out. and have lasted throughout the years. in addition. collins she says credible witnesses at the time told investigators kevin was last seen with a man with a black dog. kron four has confirmed that therrian - who went by the name kelly owned a dog collins says she doen't remember p
in the area earlier today. kron four's charles clifford shows us where police are focusing their search tonight. >> reporter: big bear is about 100 miles east of downtown los angeles, in the san bernardino mountains. this is a view looking north across the area, big bear city sits here and just to the south of town is the bear mountain ski resort. now christopher dorner's burned out truck was found along a dirt road roughly a couple milesto the southwest of the ski area. this is a very remote pine trees and ravines. the terrain here is steep and rocky, also in the recent past there are have been forest fires in this area that have left a lot of debrie on the ground, that could make it tough for search teams on foot. also, there are apparently about 400 homes nearby. a lot of these residences are vacation homes and probably empty. search teams have been going door to door checking theses residences now, a command post has been set up in big bear city and swat team members have been carried via helicopter from a golf course to the area where dorner is believed to be hiding. now, one other

of last person seen talking to collins before he disappeared. the landlord tells us sfpd's cold case unit recently showed up with a picture askinge remembered about them. therrien's former partner jack chow - the other tennant - is not believed to be a suspect. after therrien died, chow told the landlord he was moving to canada. the landlord says he's shocked to learn his former tennant may have been involved. and hopes infornation he provided helps crack this cold case and bring closure to a family still in >> pam: another developing story out of mexico. right now the military is using rescue dogs to locate and extract people trapped in rubble after a deadly building explosion earlier today. it happened at the main headquarters of pemex, a state controlled oil haft company. this is video from earlier today. the number of deaths has risen to 25 people with 101 injured in the explosion. three floors have been heavily damaged. the cause is unclear at this time, but it's believed to have come from the basement of the 52-story tower. a concord deli re- opened for business today following a no

. kron 4's reggie kumar shows us the dramatic outcome. five minutes after police shot two tear gas canisters into the window of this e-z eight motel room in newark. the second bank robbery suspect opened the door. with his hands up in the air, but then put them down. police quickly yelled at him to put his hands back up in the air. they demanded that the suspect turn around and walk backwards toward them. after taking several steps the suspect was told to put his hands behind his head, get down on his knees and continue backwards. investigators say this suspect did not have a weapon on him, and a gun was not found in the room. although.they say the first bank robbery suspect who surrendered monday afternoon did have a knife on him. they say some of the money stolen from the bank was recovered from the first suspect. in newark reggie kumar kron 4 news. >> a controversial new gun shop in los gatos has some people up in arms. many residents say, the store doesn't belong there. the store's owner says. he has even received a death threat. kron4's scott rates attended an emotional town h

. wanted in connection of a bloody home invasion burglary. kron four's philippe djegal shows us the home, which police say, was randomly targeted by theives. the front steps of this home appear to be stained in blood. a clear indication of how brutal thursday night's attack in san francisco's noe valley was. police say a 69-year-old man was asleep in this green home on the 300 block of 27th street at around 10- 30 in the evening. when three men broke in. tied him up and beat him with a hatchet. police say while the suspects ransacked the house, stealing jewelry. the victim's 58-year-old roommate came home. and, he too was beaten with a hatchet. police say the burglary lasted about an hour, before the suspects ran off. investigators say the victim's were taken to a local hospital with serious cuts. but non-life threatening injuries. clarke de maigret lives across the street. saying crime is rare in this area. it's mostly homes, and mom and pop businesses that don't attract trouble. police say all three suspects wore dark clothing, and are all believed to be between 25 and 35 years old. tw
